Day 9. Second appointment
This time having a friend for support. Or as a second ‘pair of ears’, a mind capable of following the discussion, whatever you want to call it!
‘You are not going to be alone! We are not letting that happen!’ I, that has always been independent, thought I could manage everything on my own…
‘My’ nurse (yes, you get a contact nurse during the whole procedure) greets us in the waiting room. ‘I brought my friend for support this time!’ ‘How nice! I think you are getting some good news today though…’ And she smiles while letting us in.
What’s that supposed to mean? I still have a f- cancer I guess…
The thunder-doctor comes in! ‘Hormone sensitive, low aggressiveness, first step is surgery!’
All that is positive in case you are wondering. My friend’s a lot more experienced in cancer details… They keep talking and she’s smiling and nodding to me!
The surgeon explains different types of surgery. Results, chance of relapse, cosmetical aspects… If you are asking me you can remove both breasts at once! I don’t want to go through this ever again! If i manage for now…
He’s keeping calm, going through scientific studies, research and personal experience. Well, in science we trust so he got to do whatever he thought was best!
We left the hospital, once again with a weight lifting off my shoulders. Tried to have some fun for the rest of the day. Kept in mind that nothing is over yet but ‘one step at a time’!
